Fourth of July

I've been busy and am only now getting to my Fourth of July post. You can look for my Labor Day post just in time for Thanksgiving.

It sure seemed like everyone had a great time, and anyone who didn't can console themselves with being a great actor. I mostly just have pictures, featuring almost everyone (with lots Moore photos of the surprise guests!).

Cambridge and Boston in the . . . Summer

While we were in Connecticut, we took a day trip to Boston to see the sights and meet up with Jesse's brother Matthew for dinner. We checked out Cambridge first, and our first stop was, naturally, to Dewey Cheetham & Howe a/k/a Car Talk Plaza a/k/a where the magic of car talk is made. (If you click on the picture to enlarge it, you can see "Dewey Cheetham & Howe" in gold letters on the top right window).

We then moved on to the more traditional sights found in Harvard Square . . .

and discovered that all of the really pretty buildings there are all churches.

In Boston, we spent some time on the seaport enjoying the views and the breeze. We also happen to come across a yacht that we decided we MUST have on the spot. Notice why? (Hint: there is a helicopter pad, complete with a helicopter perched elegantly on the already-luxurious vessel).

We saw other beautiful boats too (love the old sailboat in this picture).

After that, Matthew took us out to have lovely seafood (the best raw oysters Jesse has tasted -- I passed) and delectable cannolis. Before all of that, however, Matthew dragged us all around the city (to see the old market and old expensive mansions and the old jail that is now turned into a fancy hotel), which was all well and good, except that he severely under-estimated the distances we had to walk and after walking all day my feet were DYING! Therefore, I was far too tired to take pictures of any of that and we ultimately took a cab back. Matthew is now certain that I am crazy, but I am equally convinced that it is he who is insane.

Blueberry Picking

Blueberries are one of my favorite fruits, which makes it odd to think that I never tried blueberry picking before. All that changed when I visited my sister Nicole (and her Chloe, and my dad, and my Booh, and my mom) and we went a-pickin.

Jesse was very methodical and picked the most blueberries -- by far. My bucket had about a fourth as much as his, but then again I went by the one-in-the-bucket-one-in-the-mouth method (don't worry, I placed money in their "sin" jar for that infraction!)

My dad did not pick that many blueberries, but all of his were top-shelf -- the plumpest and ripest ones on the vine.

Nicole is an old pro -- having picked rasberries and such numerous times before.

This cutie picked an impressive amount of blueberries, and only included a couple green ones. Very quick on the uptake that one!

All in all we made out well -- over 10 pounds of those suckas!

We had so many we made a pie. Soooo delicious.
